Hammer Island in the Beagle Channel , is part of the Estancia Harberton , and home to Magellanic penguins ( Magellanic Penguin ) , between September and April. The colony has more than 3,000 nests, and is one of the three colonies of Magellanic penguins in Tierra del Fuego. There is also a smaller Papuans 23 pairs of penguins colony - unique in South America (Pygoscellis gentoo papua).

Being the meeting point our office tourist dock in Ushuaia, set off in modern minibuses northeast direction, along the National Route 3 and the Provincial Route J to Estancia Harberton (founded in 1886 by the Anglican missionary Thomas Bridges, located 90 Km . of Ushuaia on the shores of the Beagle Channel).
This being the closest port to the island Hammer sail for 15 minutes in semi-rigid boats (suitable for sailing boat in the area) to disembark and walk along the guide, for 1 hour, different sectors of the island.
This hike will allow us to visit nesting sites of each species and observe their customs and characteristics, always accompanied by a bilingual guide !. Since penguins coexist with different birds characteristics of the area, we can also spot Skúas (main predator of penguins), albatrosses, petrels, cormorants, Jotes, South American terns and other birds in the area.
Back to the Estancia Harberton to return to the city after having 30 free minutes, approximately in the center of the farm.

Cancellation Policy:
Kaitek Viajes reserves the right to change, suspend, cancel or otherwise modify the service offered at anytime without prior notice. If Kaitek Viajes cancels the service offered due to bad weather conditions, the tour will be rescheduled according to passengers possibilities. If passengers can not reschedule the tour, full refund will be done.
If the cancellation is done by the passenger:
90% of the total amount will be refunded if passengers cancel from 48hs prior to the scheduled departure date (administrative expenses).
50% of the total amount will be refunded if passengers cancel between 24hs and 48 hs prior to the scheduled departure date.
There will be no refund if passengers cancel less than 24hs prior to the scheduled departure date or no show.
